United States Department of Justice
Records Restoration
The Department of Justice requested ECOMPEX’s Information Management services to restore and digitize a large number of critical documents that had been damaged and deemed unsafe to handle due to their mold and mildew contamination. ECOMPEX’s mobile restoration team flew to DOJ’s location and assessed the project situation which led to a complex restoration and decontamination program. Because of the sensitive nature of these documents, a strict accountability system had to be developed that ensured that each and every document was properly restored to a legible state. The project began after a stringent security clearance investigation for all project personnel.
The file restoration process completed by ECOMPEX included drying the paper, decontaminating and removing all of the mold and mildew, restoring the paper to a legible and usable condition, and then scanning them for long term use. ECOMPEX provided DOJ with a 100% quality control inspection with extensive page level accountability records so they could destroy the paper files in absolute confidence after the restoration process was completed.
